There are creative ways to make money while getting rid of stuff that is either constantly in your way or gathering dust. To donate stuff to any organization is tax deductible. You can even have the stuff picked up from your doorstep. There are other creative ways you can ditch for returns besides money. One person's trash is another person's treasure. There is also the ultra user friendly  Craigslist ad or several aps available where you can snap a photo of your stuff and post it for sale, free or an exchange.

Another way to trade in stuff in for cash savings is to eliminate the rental fee spent on commercial self storage space.Evaluate what is monetarily replaceable, then add the numbers up. If the amount added is less than what you have paid for rent so far take it out and sell it or give it away. Perhaps someone you know temporarily needs some piece of furniture or item that you are paying to keep in storage and they can use it until you need it back. You can also rent the stuff out to people you know and make a little extra cash.

After separating what you can part with from the storage space with what may still be left, you may be able to switch your stuff over to a smaller storage space for a smaller monthly rental fee.
